Nikolaos Koulocheris is the Managing Partner of Machas & Partners Law Firm and specializes in civil, real estate, public procurement and labour law matters.

Nikos has specialist knowledge and unique practical experience clients seek to get the most value out of real estate assets and transactions. Nikos takes a tailor-made approach to all deals and provides on-going support from conception to completion, working with clients on all aspect of real estate deals from acquisition and structuring a deal, to planning, construction and engineering, asset management and real estate finance to disposal of assets.  Real estate is a long-term investment and Nikos builds personal and lasting relationships with clients, not just handling cases but providing strategic advice for maximising future income and avoiding problems before they arise. Clients benefit from his experience with some of Greece’s largest property deals, such as the Hellenikon Project in Athens, Greece’s most emblematic urban planning project with an investment value of over €10bn. 

Nikos also has considerable experience in assisting clients with public procurement projects as well as advising the Greek State in PPP projects, providing clients and the State with practical and in-depth solutions, with the aim of maximizing the possibilities for success, whilst minimizing the risks of challenge. He regularly advises clients on all aspects of procurement law, giving invaluable insights into strategic matters. He routinely advises on high-profile, high-value, complex procurement procedures.

Nikos also has extensive experience representing clients in complex civil and commercial disputes before Greek courts, the Greek Organization for Mediation and Arbitration and ICC arbitrations. Nikos has experience in dealing with high value and complex commercial cases. With strong skills in negotiating out-of-court settlements and exceptional experience with court litigation, Nikos works proactively to ensure success both in the court room and in mediation.

  • the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund with respect to the €10bn Hellenikon real estate project.

  • A major international medical and biotechnology company in procurements and corporate law matters.
  • Greek Banks and Greek affiliates of international companies on complex labour matters.
  • Major Greek companies advising them on restructuring their labour-relations.

Mr. Koulocheris studied law at the Law School of the University of Athens and holds an LL.M. Degree on corporate law from Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen - Germany. He is a member of the Hellenic Association of Labour Law and has represented Greece at the International Labour Office in Geneva. Mr. Koulocheris was a member of the permanent European Committee of Experts on insolvency law matters based in Brussels and accredited expert at the International Labour Office for the structuring of the new legal framework on temporary employment contracts. He was also a member of the Committee that created the ERGHANI system in 2006-2007. In recent years, Mr. Koulocheris has been teaching labour law at an international prestigious private university in Greece, while he has also been appointed as liquidator of the Hellenic Foreign Trade Board (HEPO). He speaks Greek, English and German.
