Vaios Kafteranis joined Machas & Partners in 2026 as an Associate in the Firm’s Real Estate practice.

His experience spans real estate investments, portfolio transactions, distressed assets and secured debt. His transactional practice includes acquisitions and disposals of single-ticket real estate assets and portfolios, legal due diligence, transaction structuring, contractual matters, NPL and REO transactions, collateral assessment, asset management and debt restructuring.

Prior to joining the Firm, Vaios held senior legal and asset management positions within the investment management sector, advising on and managing significant real estate and distressed-asset portfolios for private equity firms and investment funds. Since 2016, he has been involved in most of the major REO portfolio transactions and disposals undertaken by financial institutions in Greece and Cyprus.

His experience also includes bank-originated NPL portfolios, secured loan portfolios and the structuring and implementation of asset monetisation and restructuring strategies, as well as the drafting and negotiation of transactional documentation, including SPAs, leases, NDAs and other agreements relating to real estate secured investments.

His background combines legal practice with first-hand exposure to real estate investment and asset management, providing him with a practical understanding of the legal, commercial and strategic considerations involved in complex matters. Alongside his transactional practice, Vaios has also represented clients in litigation and dispute resolution across a broad range of commercial and civil matters.
