Law 5303/2026 introduces, for the first time, the inheritance contract (contract of inheritance mortis causa) into Greek law, marking a significant development in the field of succession planning.

The reform complements the traditional will by introducing a contractual mechanism that enhances legal certainty, protects legitimate expectations, and provides greater flexibility for the planning of family wealth, business succession, and cross-border estates.
