Highlights from the 2nd Annual Workforce Mobility Summit: The Metaklisis Model

The 2nd Annual Workforce Mobility Summit, co-organized by the Embassy of India in Athens and Machas & Partners Law Firm, with the support of Dynamic Staffing Services – Greece, was held few days ago, concluded successfully with the participation of leading industry executives and highlighting the urgent need for a sustainable and ethical framework for the recruitment of specialized talent.

Further to the opening remarks delivered by H.E. Rudrendra Tandon, Ambassador of India to Greece; Konstantina Papakosta, Secretary General for Migration Policy, Ministry of Migration & Asylum; our Founding Partner and Chairman, Petros Machas; Varun Khosla, CEO of Dynamic Staffing Services; and Marinos Giannopoulos, Ph.D, CEO of Enterprise Greece, the distinguished participants discussed the strategic importance of international staffing to address Greece’s skilled labor shortage.

From our firm, Olga Glakousaki, Associate, analyzed the role of international recruitment as a key tool for addressing Greece’s workforce gap, presenting the main stages of the process and recent legislative developments.

In a dynamic Fireside Chat, moderated by our Senior Associate, Vasileios Tsintzos, joined by Michail Kosmidis (Director of Migration Policy, Ministry of Migration & Asylum), Theodora Stathopoulou (Head of the Department for Employment of Third-Country Nationals and Equal Treatment, Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs), and our Managing Partner, Maria Antoniadou, it was highlighted the practical application of the new framework and the key challenges employers face, as well as interventions already in progress.

Topics included six-month minimum contract duration, practical implications for employers and employees, flexibility in changing employers and specialties, the role and challenges of TEAs, and the fast-track procedure as a targeted tool for strategic and economically significant projects, which, under certain conditions, can be applied in construction, logistics, the pharmaceutical industry, and data centers.The discussion at the same Fireside Chat brought to light that the integration of the Migration Management System with AADE and HDIKA – EFKA is expected to be completed before the end of the summer and to enable interoperable data retrieval and the issuance of AFM and AMKA via the Migration Registry as a central data source. The prospect of establishing two more Consulates of Greece in India shall significantly accelerate the national entry visas’ issuance.

The summit provided also real operational experiences and practical applications of international staffing, including the integration of third-country employees into the Greek work environment and early observations on performance, that reflected the international recruitment as a realistic and strategic solution to strengthen business stability of the country.
