Senior Associate

Sofia-Maria Sventzouri is a Senior Associate of Machas and Partners, specializing in civil law with comprehensive experience in family law, tort law (including car accident lawsuits), inheritance and property law, and labor law. Sofia possesses extensive judicial experience across all these areas, before courts of all instances throughout Greece.

Sofia has, also gained broad experience in administrative law and first-degree local self-government matters. From 2003 to 2011, she collaborated with the law firm of the Legal Advisor of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (K.E.D.E.), handling cases of public procurement contracts, services and loans, legality checks of administrative decisions, pre-contractual, preventive and suspensive control of expenditures before the Hellenic Court of Audit. In the same period, Sofia was extensively involved in the drafting of comments on bills and contributed in draft Ministerial Orders – Presidential Decree(s) of the Ministry of Interior.

Sofia demonstrates a strong background in handling international commercial arbitrations and complex cross-border disputes.

Her writing work includes the active contribution to the publication of the “New Architecture of Self-Government and Decentralized Administration – Program Kallikrates – Law 3852/2010, edition 2010”, co-authored by P. Zygouris – G. Papadopoulos and of the “Municipal and Community Code – Law 3463/2006, edition 2008”, written by P. Zygouris.
