Alternative Dispute Resolution

Despite historic resistance alternative dispute resolution has gained widespread acceptance as an alternative to litigation. Over the last several years it has become apparent that disputes arising in the context of such technology sensitive industries as telecommunications and IT, cross-border transactions or complex financial structures cannot meaningfully be resolved by traditional Courts. The reasons are obviously the increased expertise required, a request for timeliness in the delivery of justice and also a need for discretion by the parties involved. Our lawyers are internationally trained and have extensive experience in ADR proceedings, especially in negotiating disputes and exploring the possibility of out-of-Court settlements, as well as representing our clients in local and international courts of arbitration.

Driven by a result-oriented approach our firm allocates the most appropriate lawyers in light of the underlying cause of each specific dispute.Apart from assisting our clients in timely and efficiently resolving their disputes and representing them in ADR proceedings (ICC Rules, Greek Code of Civil Procedure, Greek Chamber of Commerce, OMED, LCIA, AAA), we also structure tailor-made arbitration agreements in view of the specific needs and requirements of each transaction.
We have acted as Greek counsel to:

  • Rainbow Waters in an international arbitration with Nestle Waters Direct SA. The arbitration concerned the sale by Nestle of all European companies operating in the field of home and office delivery of bottled water ("HOD") to a third party competitor company. This transaction took place shortly after the purchase by our client of Nestle Waters Direct SA which was the Greek company operating in the same field of HOD. (August 2018)
  • Consolidated Contractors Group (CCC Group) in the context of a c. 3.5m KD international ICC arbitration arising in connection with a construction arrangement. (April 2013)
  • Hellenic Football Federation in connection with an ICC arbitration. (February 2013)
